Name: Naydeline Mejia

Occupation: Freelance Writer

Identity: Female; She/Her Pronouns

Location: New York City

Describe your skin:
Oily to combination; acne-prone

What are your short-term and long-term skin goals?
Short-term: combat acne on my t-zone, minimize pores, keep my oily skin in check. Long-term: obtain and maintain even, glowy skin

Biggest concern:
Breakouts around my t-zone--mainly nose and cheeks; excess oil production

AM: I wash my face with CORSX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser--it's a light and gentle cleanser that doesn't strip the skin of natural oils; pat on Aromatica Tea Tree Balancing Toner--helps balance the skin's pH and is great for acne-prone and oily skin (at least that what the website says, haha)--using my hands then, I apply May Coop Raw Sauce--an essence with maple tree sap and fruit extracts--rubbing it into my skin. Lastly, I moisture with Mizon All-in-One Snail Repair Cream--a super popular K-Beauty product that helps reduce the appearance of blemishes and acne scars--and apply sunscreen; I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 100+.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but we want your skin to be hot and sexy forever. That said, you might want to ditch the May Coop Raw Sauce because of that cursed second ingredient: alcohol. If your skincare has alcohol listed in the first five ingredients, it will dry out your skin. Research should put “alcohol-in-skincare-benefits” rumors to rest.

PM: At night I have almost the same routine, but I switch my cleanser to Clean & Clear Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser (that orange stuff that I've been using since high school and should probably switch by now) because I feel like it helps cleanse my "day face"--makeup and oil--more effectively. I also use Blume's Meltdown acne treatment, made with all natural oils and extracts, on my blemishes before applying toner and etcetera (I use Peach Slices Acne Spot Dots for newer, bigger breakouts), and I apply Mizon's Snail Repair Eye Cream after my moisturizer, patting it under my eyes; I was recently gifted Fresh's Rose Face Mask, so I try to use that once weekly.

Snails are our friends at LeCC HQ. They’re so adorable and so welcome in our skincare! As snails slide through different terrains, they protect themselves with their slime to make gliding along easier. Though snail slime is slippery, these slow creatures gifted us with an anti-aging secret filled with hydrating and lubricative properties. If you want something out of the ordinary in your routine, we recommend it to minimize common photoaging in combination with sunscreen.

We put it on ourselves to learn skincare ingredients so you don’t have to. See if your skincare passes at RateYourRoutine.com
