Describe your skin:
Combination dry and very prone to hormonal and stress acne (like a lot of it).
What are your short-term and long-term skin goals?
I’m nearing 30 with every passing moment and while I’m not afraid of aging (30, flirty, and thriving right?!), I would like to do it gracefully. Sun protection is super important to me as my family is prone to skin cancer. And finally, would even skin tone and texture be asking too much? She flushes too easily. So probably 🤷♀️.
Ugh, that’s too hard. Three-way tie: dryness, stress/hormonal acne breakouts, and aging!
In the morning I use Restorsea Reviving Cleanser, Restorsea PRO Foaming Cleanser (living and loving the double cleanse life), and then about every other day Clark’s Botanicals Dual Charcoal Detox (exfoliant), followed by Restorsea Intensive Treatment (serum), Restorsea Rejuvenating Day Cream, and I switch between the Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream and the Clark’s Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream depending on how much sleep I got or water I drank and how puffy I’m looking. Never walk out the door without my SPF; currently using Dermalogica Super Sensitive Shield SPF 30.
Let’s hear it for the double cleanse life! We can’t sing its praises enough. Double cleansing ensures that your skin is squeaky clean (in a good way, not a tight, dry kinda way), and free of all makeup and general day-to-day buildup (thanks, NYC pollution!). It creates a clean slate for whatever comes next in your routine.
I pretty much do the same thing at night except I’ll use my Clark’s Botanicals Retinol Rescue Eye Serum sometimes instead of the other eye creams.
I should disclose that I’m fortunate to work (or have worked) with both of the brands I primarily use so the cost of my skincare routine outside my (extremely expensive) SPF is nil. But I can say that I would confidently spend the money to repurchase 80-90% of it should my supply run out! I also would never continue to use products on my skin that didn’t really work for me which is why this regimen took some refining! Before I began using these I was primarily a Dermalogica gal since I used to work in digital marketing at Ulta Beauty and very much enjoyed the employee discount for skincare splurges.
That’s right! A routine can take a lot of time and effort to perfect. There are so many products out there, so a lot of finding a routine is a lot of trial and error – that’s why we created RateYourRoutine.com: to take the guessing out of finding the routine that matches your skin type and goals.
Okay, I think this is the longest Mirror, Mirror you’ve probably ever received so I’m gonna stop here and thank LeCC again for giving me the opportunity to nerd out on skincare (...on a public stage). [Editor’s note: Thank you, Kelsey!]
